Luxembourg, the Grand Ducal Family.

On 14 February 1981, Prince Henri married Miss Maria Teresa Mestre whom he met at the University of Geneva.


Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa was born on 22 March 1956 in Havana, Cuba. She is the daughter of José Antonio Mestre and Maria Teresa Batista-Falla de Mestre.

In 1980, Maria Teresa Mestre received her political science diploma from the University Institute of International Advanced Studies of the University of Geneva.

Since 10 June 1997, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess has been a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for the education of women and girls everywhere in the world. The president of several humanitarian foundations, she strongly supports all actions which give to women the means of being autonomous and to defend their rights. The Grand Duchess is also engaged in a large number of Luxembourg and foreign organisations.

Their Royal Highnesses have four sons and a daughter:
- Prince Guillaume, born on 11 November 1981
- Prince Félix, born on 03 June 1984
- Prince Louis, born on 03 August 1986
- Princess Alexandra, born on 16 February 1991
- Prince Sébastien, born on 16 April 1992


Prince Guillaume was born on 11 November 1981 at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg and is the eldest son of Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. He did his primary studies at the Lorentzweiler school. He then attended Robert Schuman secondary school followed by the “Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil” in Switzerland where he obtained his French baccalaureate in 2001. After courses in international politics in England, the Prince continued studies in this area in Switzerland and France, taking care to participate in the great geopolitical events of our time. In 2005, he was able to assist in the “Millennium Conference” at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. Prince Guillaume obtained in June 2009 a diploma in Literature and Political Science. On 18 December 2000, Prince Guillaume was named officially the Grand Duke Heir Apparent.

From September 2001 until August 2002 he received officer training at the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy in Great Britain. In December 2002, he was sworn in as an officer in the Luxembourg army and the Prince currently has the rank of Major. Since the start of 2001, he has assumed the honorary presidency of the Board of Economic Development.


Prince Félix was born on 3 June 1984 at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg. After his primary education at the Lorentzweiler school, he pursued his secondary studies at the Notre Dame (Sainte-Sophie) Private School of Luxembourg, then at the American School of Luxembourg. In 1998, he enrolled in the “Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil” at Villars-sur-Ollon. In 2003, he received his diploma marking the end of his secondary studies.

In 2003 he attended the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy in Great Britain where he distinguished himself as one of the best non-English officer candidates before having to terminate prematurely his studies at Sandhurst for reasons of health. His studies in political science, communication, and psychology brought the Prince to renowned schools in England and Belgium. Presently, Prince Félix works in the marketing and public relations department of a Swiss company specialising in event planning. Prince Félix has the rank of Chevalier of the Order of the Golden Lion of Nassau.


Prince Louis was born on 3 August 1986 at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg. The Prince went to primary school in Lorentzweiler, to the Notre-Dame (Sainte-Sophie) private school, then to the American School of Luxembourg. He went to secondary school in Switzerland, at the “Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil” in Villars-sur-Ollon, where he graduated in June 2005. On 12 March 2006 Gabriel de Nassau, son of Prince Louis and Mademoiselle Tessy Antony, was born in Geneva. They were married on 29 September 2006. On 21 September 2007 Noah de Nassau was born at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital, the second child of Prince Louis and Madame Tessy de Nassau.


Princess Alexandra was born on 16 February 1991 at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg. She is the only daughter of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. Princess Alexandra went to primary school in Angelsberg and to secondary school at the French School of Luxembourg, where she received her baccalaureate in 2009. Her interests include learning foreign languages, science, sport, music and art.


Prince Sébastien was born on 16 April 1992 at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg. He went to primary school at the Vauban school, then continued his studies at the St. Georges International School in Luxembourg. His favourite subjects are art and science.
